Purpose

We are pleased to announce we have established the Pastor Tim Gilligan Lifelong Learner Scholarship Fund with the intention of awarding scholarships beginning with the Fall 2020 semester. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide funds for members of Meadowbrook Church and other partner churches in Marion County who wish to pursue an advanced church vocational degree. This program has been established in honor of Senior Pastor Tim Gilligan and his 30 years of dedicated and impassioned service, and his personal commitment to higher education in completing a Doctorate of Ministry.

Pastor Tim Gilligan has always made it his goal to be a "life-long learner." He continually challenges and encourages his staff to do the same. On his journey towards higher education, he always had his end goal in mind to which he says, "I didn't get this so I can be your doctor. I went and earned my doctorate so that I could be a better pastor."

Honorees will receive a $500 stipend for both Fall and Spring semesters, respectively. The number of scholarships to be awarded each school year will be announced the preceding March and applications shall be received not later than May 31 of each year. Applications will be reviewed and awards determined by the Church Selection Team, which will have sole and complete discretion and authority in making all awards. The Selection Team is comprised of the Meadowbrook Church Senior Leadership Team. Team members must meet the highest standards of independence, transparency and avoidance of conflict of interest.

Applications are reviewed competitively. Scholarship recipients will be announced approximately one-month prior to the typical college semester start time but not later than July 31st.

Selection Criteria

  • Financial need;
  • Academic achievement;
  • Scholastic awards and achievement;
  • Educational degree being pursued; and
  • The extent of service and volunteer involvement in the church.

Due to the current relationship between Meadowbrook and Southeastern University (SEU), eligibility preference will be accordingly limited to Southeastern University Ocala students who are pursuing a two-year, four-year or advanced church vocational degree. However, other church programs may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
